Bữa Cơm Gia Đình (My Family Meal)
A family meal with all of my family is a rare occasion. It was at least 2 years since we’ve had the chance to sit all together. My mother and my brother is often in Australia. My grandparents and my dad is in Vietnam and I’m often in the US. Usually we find at least one period per year where we all try to get together but the pandemic made it much more difficult.
I miss the feeling where all the dining tables are filled with people, with laughter and good home-cooked meals. I decided to capture this meal with my camera to secure this moment.

Ăn Tết (Lunar New Year Dinner)
As a sequel to A Family Meal, I decided to capture the Lunar New Year dinner we had at my house. Lunar New Year dinner for Vietnamese is a family-oriented occasion, it’s where we get together and have a big meal to celebrate the new year according to the Lunar Calendar.
Due to conflict of school schedule, it has been 7 years since I was able to be at home and enjoy this meal with my family. My grandpa, who is 95, due to his age and health, often eats his meals in his room upstairs but for rare family occasions, he comes downstairs to eat with all of us.
Finally, we have all 6 of us at the table. We’re talking, we are laughing, we’re eating good Vietnamese food.
